"Mommy, Daddy are we rich?"

That was a topic of conversation on the news lately. What will you do if your child throws a tantrum and asks for the latest Iphone? Or the smallest laptop? What happens if they ask why are we driving only 1 car or live in a HDB?

My answer to them will be that we are bloody poor!!! We do not have anything and if they want something just because it is cool or because they are being laughed at for not having it. Just like my monster now, she wears hand me downs and as much as possible, we do not spend too much on her. We can buy her all kinds of games and all kinds of toys... But knowing her, she will only get tired of it in a short while. Do I feel any worse off not having a condo? Do I feel any lower than other Sillyporeans? No I do not think so. I am able to afford what I can afford, give what I can give and love where I can love. I can say that it is the intrinsics that makes us rich and not the material things. I go home and everyone is happy. We yap away through the day and talk about everything. Monster will grow up in a well mannered and loving home and family. That is one thing no money can buy.

She will learn to be a good person and also be a good person. Are we rich? Yes we are the richest family around if that is the case. Happiness and completeness is all that is important. Material things??? It will all fade away.

And that is why my dear readers, you will find that I am a very different type of guy.
