Time to ponder
Today is unfortunately the 1st Anniversary of the passing of A's dad. In the last 2 years, I have already quite a few friends lose their fathers to illness and sudden death. Mine went in Mar 2002, 5 years ago. It seems like most Sillypore men will be lucky to live to 70 as many of the people that I know of do have problems staying alive till 70. This is of course not the same for women. Like my little energizer battery mom who will go on and on and on and on and on..... they will live to a ripe (I mean she is really starting to have all the grandma smells.... yucks!!!) old age of 80 plus.
I do not really realize the reason why and how the government of Sillypore think that people are living till an older age. Maybe the super rich are living till an old age, but most of the normal people should be happy to live till 70.
Further to this will be the implementation of the annuity scheme in which it is compulsory for all to enter and if we wish it to be disbursed to our children, then we have to payhigher premiums. The poor will die poor and the rich will just live on. This may be hard to swollow, but lets look at it this way my friends, if you had a ton of money, you can consult the best docs and get the best meds. If you were normal everyday joe Sillyporean, if you had to cough up 1k plus for dialysis and di not qualify for subsidy by NKF or any of the other organisations, you are screwed. If normal Jane Sillyporean gets cancer and needs treatment, the anti cancer treatments will also cost 1k plus each month. If she is sick, can she work to get the money? If she did not have any medical insurance, could she pay for it? We are not talking about first class wards or something like that, we are talking about basic survival.
I will not use this blog as an anti government platform, but then seriously, I was speaking to some frens and they also mentioned that Sillypore is not a good place to live if you have not much income. It is only wen u have more than ample income that you will find this place a nice place. Imagine.... many moons ago, I walked into a shop in Orchard road. I was shopping for a good watch like a Tag or something like dat. I was dressed in Bermudas and sandals (as I am always dressed when I am having a slow day), and no one wanted to even approach me. What??? Bermuda and sandal means no money ah?
Maybe I should dress in a tux the next time I want to buy something abve $300. And like the tai driver uncle who had lunch with us yesterday said, taxi drivers are give a bad rep only because of a few rotten tomatoes. It could be the company's fault, it could be the driver's fault and it could also be the passengers fault. But in the end, it is the taxi driver who has to get the shit.
So back to my title.... It is time to ponder where we are going, what this journey will be, where it will lead and when will it end. All very ponderous questions and it is true. We have to ponder them somehow, sometime and somewhere. I have had many deep thoughts and also many deep revelations from all this thinking and my answer is "FARK IT!!!! "
Cheers and peace out.
